Probably one of the most disturbing experiments of all time was made by Leo Stanley, a physician that was in charge of San Quentin Prison in California. He surgically transplanted the testicles of executed criminals into living inmates. He believed that all males who committed crimes have a characteristic in common– low testosterone levels. Stanley also assumed that raising those levels would contribute to reducing crime rates.
His crazy theory has lead to more than 600 inmates being the victim of the testicle transplant until there was a shortage of human testicle. Then, Stanley decided to inject liquefied animal testicles into the living inmates. The experiment was considered a successful one after a Caucasian prisoner felt ‘energetic’ after he received the testicle from an executed African-American convict.
