Walt Disney

Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, and died on December 15, 1966, in Burbank, California. Walt Disney was a famous American entrepreneur, animator, writer, voice actor, and film producer.

He took the production of cartoons to the next level. Throughout his career, Disney won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations, holding the record for the most Academy Awards earned by a single individual. Disney also has two Golden Globe Special Achievement Awards and an Emmy Award, plus, many other honors.

He’s the creator of viral characters that impacted the cartoon world, such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. He also created and build Disneyland. The first amusement park was built near Los Angeles, back in 1955, but he also build a second one a few years later, Walt Disney World, in Orlando, Florida.

Disney created his first animated advertising films in 1922, working with a single camera he bought secondhand. He also started working with Ub Iwerks, a young, talented artist who contributed to Walt Disney’s early success.

Together, the two created their first series of animated cartons which they called Laugh-O-grams, and the pilot film for Alice in Cartoonland, where they mixed action with animation. However, the two were forced to file for bankruptcy in 1923, after they have been tricked by a producer.

But Disney didn’t want to give up, so he decided to move to California to become a cinematographer. This decision changed his life and contributed to everything he’s ever done. He created The Three Little Pigs, the classic fairy tale Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, but also created full-length animation romances, such as Cinderella (1950), Alice in Wonderland (1951), Peter Pan (1953), and others.
