Cape Melville is a rainforest habitat in Australia that’s only accessible by helicopter. The exact location of the park is 900 miles northwest of Brisbane. Being such an isolated place, it was only in 2013 that scientists discovered here three completely new species of animals, including a leaf-tailed gecko.
Vale do Javari is an indigenous territory in Brazil, where almost 2000 indigenous people live (at least 14 tribes) independent of the Brazilian government, in an area about the size of Austria. Needless to say, outsiders are not welcomed here, given the tribes’ right to live in isolation.
Kamchatka is a peninsula located in the far eastern Russia. This is the place to be for every vulcanologist out there, Kamchatka being the home of more than 300 volcanoes. This location is also famous for its exceptional biodiversity.
The Namib is the world’s oldest desert. Here we can find giant sand dunes, especially in the southern part, including the tallest sand dune in the world that’s 1256 feet tall. So, it’s no surprise that Southern Namibia is one of the least-populated places on Earth.
Fiordland is the largest national park of New Zealand and home to a unique diversity of animals. The park has an area of 2.9 million acres and contains some of the country’s oldest rocks.
Son Doong Cave is the world’s largest natural cave, stretching more than three miles long, while also reaching heights of 650 feet. This 3-million-year-old cave is located in the central part of Vietnam, being one of the most captivating destinations in Southeast Asia.
