We conquered the moon, we sent space probes outside our solar system, explorers dived deep into the depths of the Earth’s oceans, and yet, even if it may seem hard to believe, there are still some unexplored places on our planet.

So, let’s take a look at these 6 amazing unexplored locations around the globe.

1. Cape Melville – Australia

Cape Melville is a rainforest habitat in Australia that’s only accessible by helicopter. The exact location of the park is 900 miles northwest of Brisbane. Being such an isolated place, it was only in 2013 that scientists discovered here three completely new species of animals, including a leaf-tailed gecko.

2. Vale Do Javari – Brazil

Vale do Javari is an indigenous territory in Brazil, where almost 2000 indigenous people live (at least 14 tribes) independent of the Brazilian government, in an area about the size of Austria. Needless to say, outsiders are not welcomed here, given the tribes’ right to live in isolation.

3. Kamchatka – Russia

Kamchatka is a peninsula located in the far eastern Russia. This is the place to be for every vulcanologist out there, Kamchatka being the home of more than 300 volcanoes. This location is also famous for its exceptional biodiversity.

4. Southern Namibia

The Namib is the world’s oldest desert. Here we can find giant sand dunes, especially in the southern part, including the tallest sand dune in the world that’s 1256 feet tall. So, it’s no surprise that Southern Namibia is one of the least-populated places on Earth.

5. Fiordland National Park – New Zealand
