A few centuries ago, there were a lot of European people who became cannibals after taking medicine that had bones, blood, and fats of dead and living people as the main ingredients.
People used to believe that using this medicine was going to cure their diseases. For example, they were applying body fat on their skin in order to treat several health conditions, such as gout.
Another weird thing these people used to do was drink blood from a person who was still alive. They were adding fresh blood from someone to their food, or they even used to drink it plain, as a juice.
There were a lot of underprivileged people who couldn’t afford to consume blood from a living person, so they made a habit of going to public executions. They would hold cups in their hands, in order to get some fresh blood from the person who had just died. However, people stopped using human body parts as medicine in the 18th century.
