The 12-day Johnson & Johnson pause was lifted on April 23, and just two days after, the first blood clotting case in a male recipient was reported by the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the first man in the United States to experience blood clotting was reported on April 25, just two days after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The 30-something-year old man has a clot in his leg and was hospitalized because of that. Until now, all 15 blood clotting cases reported have been found in women, so this is the first-ever case in the United States in men.
Also, most women were aged 50 or younger, so the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urged women under the age of 50 to be aware of the potential risks that can appear after Johnson & Johnson vaccination.
