As the New York Times has reported, the loss of teeth could be a long-term symptom caused by the novel coronavirus, according to William W. Li, MD, president and medical director of the Angiogenesis Foundation.

Dr. William Li explained that the issue could be caused by the coronavirus interfering with the ACE2 protein who can be found in several parts of the body, including the mouth. According to Li, even though more research is needed to identify the cause of the teeth falling out, it is a possibility that the coronavirus has affected the blood vessels located in our mouths, meant to keep our teeth alive.
The destruction of the blood vessels could lead to teeth falling out without feeling any pain or discomfort, and also without any blood, exactly how the long-haulers reported their experience.
