The Updated Vaccine Guidelines, According to the CDC

You can get a different vaccine second dose, but only in ‘exceptional situations.’

Recent updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have come after a lot of cities had to cancel vaccine appointments as there weren’t enough doses available. With this in mind, the new vaccine guidelines allow people to receive a different vaccine second dose from their first, but only when there’s no other option. Therefore, it is possible to get Pfizer’s first vaccine dose and then receive Astra Zeneca’s Second dose in some exceptional situations.
