The Updated Vaccine Guidelines, According to the CDC

But according to the CDC, the vaccines are still not interchangeable.

As previously mentioned, people can receive a different vaccine second dose in exceptional situations, but that doesn’t mean it would be recommended to do so unless it’s absolutely necessary.

According to CDC spokesperson Jason McDonald, “The intent is not to suggest people do anything different but provide clinicians with flexibility for exceptional circumstances.” But along with the updates, they also mentioned that the vaccines “are not interchangeable with each other or with other COVID-19 vaccine products.”
