The flu virus can now spread more easily as more companies open, there is less physical separation, and more children attend in-person school.

The doctor continued by saying that he believed children are the biggest spreaders of influenza, due to the fact that when they have the flu, their bodies can produce even more viruses than adults can. Dr. William Schaffner said that hospitals are already full of patients infected with the flu, so it would be disastrous to have people infected with influenza, especially given the fact that we are in the middle of the pandemic.

The entire healthcare system is under a lot of stress and pressure because of the high number of COVID-19 cases, and if the flu spreads, the system will be much more stressed.

Dr. Laura Boyd, a primary care physician, said her health system is already packed with COVID-19, and a flu outbreak will exacerbate the situation. She told Healthline that the medical staff is already lacking employees, and a lot of people are calling for office visits.

How Concerned Should You Be?

It is absolutely possible to be diagnosed with two viruses at the same time. According to Dr. Laura Boyd, if someone is infected with a virus, their immune system is already weakened due to the virus, which gives easier access to another infection.

Even though researchers know the fact that influenza and Covid-19 can merge into something strong, they have no idea how dangerous flurona can actually be.

Dr. Schaffner reminds us that elderly persons, those with obesity, people with compromised immune systems, and people with strong diseases like diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, and more are the most vulnerable to both influenza and Covid-19.

He added the fact that influenza started to spread across the United States of America, but they can’t tell if and where the virus is going to hit. However, he believes that there are going to be a lot of flurona cases across the country.
