A lot of dangerous diseases are caused by a simple animal bite. Malaria, for instance, can be caused by a mosquito bite. You can easily get infected with Malaria if the mosquito that bit you was infected by a parasite.
228 million people have been reported with Malaria in 2018, while 405,000 were killed by it the same year. Most of the cases have been found in Africa, and children seemed to be the hardest hit, as data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown. Malaria’s symptoms include high fevers, chills, and other flu-like symptoms.
But even though Malaria is a deadly disease, it can be cured with proper treatment. Additionally, it cannot be transmitted from one individual to another through contact, you can only get it through mosquito bites.
Dengue fever, another viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes is caused by the dengue virus (DENV). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 400 million people get infected with Dengue each year, while 100 million of those people become sick from the infection, and 22,000 of them end up losing their lives from it.
Dengue is mostly found in Asian and Latin American countries and it can only be transmitted by female mosquitoes through bites. Dengue has flu-like symptoms, even though in some rare cases, people can develop severe dengue, which is manifesting through severe bleeding, organ impairment, and plasma leakage.
