Abraham Lincoln’s son was saved from death by John Wilkes Booth’s brother.

Long before John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln in April 1865, the two shared a coincidental family connection. Edwin, Booth’s brother was a well-known actor and a supporter of the Union during the Civil War.

He was in a train station in New Jersey when Abraham Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln, nearly fell onto the tracks in front of a train. Edwin grabbed Lincoln’s son by the collar and prevented a tragic accident from happening.

However, Booth found out about the incident only a few years later, after Lincoln’s son wrote about it, mentioning the person who saved him from death.
