John Lenon was under surveillance by the US government

You’ve probably heard this because it used to be very popular, but a conspiracy theory claimed that John Lenon was under surveillance by the FBI. Well, this couldn’t be more true. Why?

Well, like many other famous figures, John Lennon was considered a threat, as he was famous for writing anti-war songs, including the well-known “Give Peace a Chance,” which didn’t exactly pleased the Nixon administration at that time.

As the NPR reported in 2010, “In 1971, the FBI put Lennon under surveillance, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service tried to deport him a year later.”
