According to the scientists at the University of St. Andrews, throughout the 8,000 patients, they had examined, they couldn’t find ‘live virus’ after day 9 of infection. While the virus can still be detected in patients even after several weeks or even months after infection through respiratory or stool samples, it’s important to mention that 9 days after the first symptom arose, the virus is no longer infectious.
The CDC’s guidelines are in line with the researchers’ findings, suggesting that those who tested positive for the novel coronavirus need to self-isolate for ten days. According to Cevik, COVID-19 testing might not be needed after this 10-day period, since studies have proven the virus is no longer infectious and the patient can transmit the virus anymore.

This is all about money. Companies don’t want to pay employees for 14 days of quarantine. I don’t blame them, however just shortening the time is not the answer. This will cause a larger spread of the virus, making things harder on our health care system. The Federal Government needs to get their act together and think of ways to help SMALL business and employees. Otherwise we’re going to have complete mayhem going into the new year.
