If you’d rather go into the woods and meet with a bear, than go to the dentist, you can thank your father for that. Scientists say that going to the dentist is a habit that might be socialized from dads to kids.
In 2012, the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry published a study that found that if 1 person in a family had a strong fear of dentists, the rest of the family was more likely to have the same problem.
And that is not all: research has shown that when it comes to visiting the dentist, children are more likely to follow their dads’ emotional cues than their moms. So if the dad is scared of hopping in the dentist’s chair, so will the children.
