What happened to Amelia Earhart?

Amelia Earhart was an American aviator and the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean as well as from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland. She mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean, in 1937, while attempting to fly around the world. The mystery lies in the fact that she seemed to have vanished into thin air, as no traces of her plane have ever been found.
