Why is there SARS in one of the names?

SARS in the name SARS-CoV-2 means severe acute respiratory syndrome. It is caused by a coronavirus, SARS-associated coronavirus, to be more precise (SARS-CoV). In February 2003, there have been reported many cases of respiratory diseases in Asia. After some time, the illness started to spread to many regions from Europe, South America and North America. This illness ended after a few months, in 2004.
