Beechworth Lunatic Asylum was previously known as Mayday Lunatic Asylum and operated for more than 128 years. It was opened in 1867, in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia, and hosted hundreds of patients over the years.
Over 9,000 patients have been reported dead during those years, so the place is considered haunted today. Many people have reported seeing the ghost of a woman who was killed for being Jewish. Other people have reported seeing a little boy called James, who likes to talk to the children that visit the building.
But besides patients, there are also ghosts doctors, and nurses, and all of them have a very sad and terrifying backstory.
