Danvers Lunatic Asylum was opened in 1871, in Danvers, Massachusetts, or otherwise known as Salem Village. This asylum is considered to be a very special one, due to the famous witch trials of 1962.
Danvers Lunatic Asylum was designed in a very dark, gothic style, which ended up being called a modern concentration camp, due to the tragic events that happened between closed doors.
The asylum housed a lot of patients, which made it overcrowded, neglected, and cruel. Patients were constantly forgotten in isolation and had to survive without food or water for a couple of days or even weeks.
Danvers Lunatic Asylum was also called “the birthplace of the prefrontal lobotomy,” so you can only imagine what the patients had to endure on a daily basis. Since then, those who visit the abandoned building reported seeing ghosts, unusual lights, or hearing weird sounds.
