Athens Lunatic Asylum was opened in 1874 in Athens, Ohio, hosting hundreds of people with mental health disorders, including violent criminals. However, the facility was way too small for how many patients it hosted, so it became overcrowded, known all over the country for its patient abuse.
The patients had to endure cruel treatments such as electroshocking, and ice-pick lobotomies, causing many of them to lose their lives. Those who died have been buried there, but their name is not written on the graves, but rather their patient numbers.
Those who visit the Athens Lunatic Asylum say that it’s almost impossible not to see something paranormal or even ghosts, especially if you visit the gravesites.
