What is dark matter?

Everything that exists is made from protons, neutrons, and electrons, which are known as baryonic matter. Not until very long ago, scientists used to believe that the universe was also made entirely of baryonic matter.

However, it has been found in the last 30 years or so that just as little as 5 percent of the universe is made of baryonic matter, while the other 95 percent remains a mystery to all scientists and astronomers.

They believe that 25 percent of the universe consists of dark matter, even though no one knows for sure what it is or what it’s made of.
