11 70s And 80s Tech That Were Ahead Of Their Time

3. Polaroid Polavision

The 70’s and 80’s were certainly dominated by the concept of `instant` photography, aka the Polaroid brand. Given the success of the SX-70 and One Step cameras, Edwin Land, the founder of Polaroid, decided to try entering the home movie market, which was already dominated at that time by the Super 8 film, which belonged to Kodak.

But, unlike the Super 8, which required processing in a lab film, Polavision developed the film in just a few minutes, thanks to the special cartridges with which this device was equipped.

Unfortunately, Polavision was only in production between 1977 and 1979, due to its questionable quality. The colors were flat, you could only shoot in very bright light, and the pictures were always muddy in appearance.
