You’ve probably heard Carl Sagan’s quote, saying that there are more stars in the sky than grains of sand here on our planet. I’m sorry to disappoint, but as astronomer Bob Berman has explained, this is not true.
Berman calculated the number of known stars in the universe. He multiplied 100 billion estimated stars in each galaxy, by an estimated 200 billion to 3 trillion galaxies. Then he did the same with sand, calculating the grains present in a cubic centimeter. And even though Sagan’s quote proved to be false, what Breman discovered is much more interesting.
Apparently, the number of stars in space and the number of sand grains on Earth equal each other. What do you say about this? False or not?
