The Small Elephants Of Java
As you might know already, elephants are big creatures which makes them impossible to hide from us, compared to other tiny creatures. However, the small elephants of Java managed to do it successfully for decades.
They live in the Bornean Mountains, minding their own business, even though we believed for many, many years that they are extinct. apparently, they are just very good at hiding from us, which is probably better for them.
According to the World Wildlife Foundation, “These elephants managed to survive because of the elephant trade industry in Asia many decades ago.”
The fact that we ship and sell elephant is very cruel, however, this practice has helped to keep them alive, since they wouldn’t be here today if they haven’t been shipped to Borneo, due to the poaching that wiped out a lot of species in their country of origin.
