New Guinea Singing Dog
The New Guinea Singing Dog, or also known as the New Guinea highland dog, is a species related to the Australian dingo. Researchers believed these species were extinct for a few decades, however, in 2016 they discovered a population of singing dogs located in a remote region of New Guinea.
As previously mentioned, the species was believed to be extinct for more than 50 years, until the researchers confirmed the sighting of the species. The New Guinea Singing Dog is famous for its high-pitched singing just like its name says, and they can even form a choir when they’re doing it together.
As researchers shared with Science alert, “The discovery and confirmation of the highland wild dog for the first time in over half a century is not only exciting but an incredible opportunity for science.”
