Don’t forget to socialize.

Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to hand out with your friends anymore. If anything, now is the perfect time to do it. Even though friendships usually change a lot with age, it’s still important to socialize and maintain a good relationship with the people in your life.

In fact, friendships could help you feel younger and improve your longevity even when you’re a senior, according to a study from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Additionally, the National Institute on Aging has shown that socializing with friends is linked to reducing interleukin-6 levels, which can contribute to cancer, arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, and Alzheimer’s.

However, it’s also important to hang out with positive people that make your day better. Toxic people who only like to gossip and judge others can bring you down if you spend too much time in their presence.

Ad data from the Mayo Clinic has shown, by hanging out with toxic, negative people all the time you’re increasing your stress levels. That’s why it would be better for your overall health to spend time with those people that can influence your life in a positive way.
