Was there something before the Big Bang?

As you might know already from the science classes in school, the Universe began 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang, which is scientists’ explanation for how it was born. The Big Bang is considered the best theory, as it presents the idea that the universe began as just a single point, and then expanded and grew as large as it is today, and it’s still expanding.

But how about before the Big Bang? As renowned physicist Stephen William Hawking, PhD has explained, there was nothing. Even though many scientists have had the same opinion as Hawking, no one can know for sure.

According to Hawking, everything that happened before the Big Bang does not have “observational consequence,” therefore, it’s fair to say that everything began after the Big Bang.
