Thanks to stem cells, there might be hope for those who experienced stokes. A study conducted at Stanford University discovered a way to reverse the tragic effects of stroke in a 31-year-old woman.
As a stroke victim, Sonia Coontz experienced difficulty speaking and was unable to move, being forced to use a wheelchair for more than two years. After two years of constant struggles, she took the decision to participate in a clinical trial, which focused on using stem cell treatment to repair the affected parts in her brain.
As previously mentioned, she suffered almost complete immobilization for more than two years after the stroke. Well, just a few hours after she received the stem cells, Coontz was able to move her arms and legs.
Additionally, she was also more fluent when speaking within a few hours, and she wasn’t the only patient who had such remarkable results from the stem cell treatments.
