You shouldn’t wait until a specific vaccine is available, Fauci said.
A lot of people are choosing to postpone vaccination for various reasons. While some of them are prioritizing other people’s safety and let those at-risk get vaccinated first, others are just pickier and want only a specific vaccine. A lot of health officials, including Anthony Fauci, have urged people not to do this.
Anthony Fauci said during a live Q&A on Twitter that people need to make sure they’re receiving the vaccine that’s available for them, even though it’s not the one they wanted. The three vaccines that are currently available in the United States, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson are all safe and effective in preventing infection.
Bruce Polsky, MD, chairman of the department of medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine and NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island shares Fauci’s advice, adding that it’s very important to get vaccinated as soon as possible with whatever vaccine is available at that time. He urges people to get vaccinated as soon as possible, just like Fauci did.
