How long it would take to travel to Mars?

Well… it depends on when you’re planning on traveling there and how you expect to get there. You probably know already that the distance between our planet and Mars is constantly changing, and so is the time it takes to get there. Nevertheless, the fastest journey ever made to the Red Planet by a spacecraft was Mariner 7’s flyby from 1969. It took him 128 days to get there.

How far is Mars from Earth?

It’s not a surprise that the distance between Mars and Earth is continuously changing as they spin around the Sun. Mostly because of their elliptical orbits, the distance between the two planets often changes as they spin around the sun. Moreover, during its nearest approach, Mars becomes just 54.6 million kilometers (33.9 million miles) away. Also, there are 400 million kilometers (250 million miles) between the two planets at their furthest.

How many moons does Mars have?

Phobos and Deimos are the two moons that Mars has. Both are named after the Greek mythological gods – Phobos means panic and fear while Deimos means terror and dread. Mars’s moons are very small compared to the Earth’s moon. Phobos is the larger one, but it is still small, with a radius of around 11 km. Additionally, they are irregular in shape and were both discovered by the American astronomer Asaph Hall in 1877.
