They are not the only well respected scientific journal to provide a damning examination of the timeline of the governments handling of this global threat. Last month, Scientific American also wrote a scathing piece, concluding “The pandemic would strain any nation and system, but Trump’s rejection of evidence and public health measures have been catastrophic,”
Like The New England Journal of Medicine, Scientific American had never endorsed a political candidate in their 175 year history, however, unlike the N.E.J.M, they chose to openly endorse the Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Both journals have struggled with the near constant torrent of misinformation and misleading statements from the administration.
