8. The aging process
While it’s true that age is only a number and that how we feel is what really matters, research has shown that age estimations aren’t always spot on. As a result of telomeres, a piece of DNA located at the very end of each chromosome, we end up looking the way we do.
According to a 2010 study in Nature Genetics, researchers examined 500 thousand telomeres. They discovered that telomeres with shortened tips seemed about 3 to 4 years older than those with typical lengths.
You might now respond, “You got it from your mama,” to the inevitable comment that your actual age belies your physical appearance.
