Why cold water feels colder than air at the same temperature?

Density is the answer. Water is denser than air and the human body loses heat 25 times quicker while in water than it does in air, even though we’re talking about the same temperatures.

Because of density, water has a high specific capacity. Therefore, it takes longer to raise its temperature even a little, and it’s remarkable at retaining heat or cold. This explains why it takes so long until the hot soup cools down and why the ocean is colder than land. Additionally, water is an amazing conductor and it’s very effective at transferring that heat or cold to your body.
