Operation Mockingbird

One of the most famous conspiracy theories out there, Operation Mockingbird, was a program created by the CIA in the 1950s, that used several media organizations in order to influence people.

Two decades later, the Church Committee conducted an investigation in order to discover how the CIA managed to influence several national and foreign media organizations. It was later discovered that the CIA maintained an enormous global network offered information to the organization, while also trying to influence public opinion through propaganda.

As the US senate task force has discovered, the CIA also managed to get access to various “newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets.”

Also, more than 50 percent of all CIA assets have been shown to be American journalists or other US media organizations.
