Can lightning strike the same place twice?
For many years, it was somehow a reassuring fact that lightning cannot strike in one place twice. But the truth is completely different. In reality, it is possible for lightning to hit the same place repeatedly. In fact, multiple strikes can occur in vulnerable places such as tall buildings utility poles, or trees, and scientists say it’s something that cannot be avoided.
A perfect example is the Empire State Building in New York City which gets hit by lighting about 25 times per year.
