One of life’s greatest mysteries is whether we are alone in the universe or not. We’ve heard so much about aliens in movies and among scientists, that we want to believe in their existence, so much that we associate every ‘unknown’ light in the sky with them.

Scientists began looking for alien life shortly after they’ve heard the Wow! signal in August 1977. The signal heard on the radio was very intense, close to the frequency that Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) researchers believe could have been sent by aliens, even though it only lasted for 72 seconds.

It’s called the Wow! signal because astronomer Jerry Ehman wrote ‘Wow!’ next to it in red ink when he first saw the signal in a print version from the Big Ear radio telescope in Ohio.

However, nothing has been found since then, and the universe continues to appear without any other signs of life. However, a team of scientists at the University of Oxford published an article about the Fermi paradox and brought a new perspective to all this mystery.

Anders Sandberg, Eric Drexler, and Toby Ord of the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) published an article that might help to solve the Fermi paradox, which is the inconsistency of our expectations of alien life in the universe and the unmistakable lack of them.

The researchers used fresh statistical methods and made us question one more time whether we are alone or not in the universe. They also came to some groundbreaking conclusion: it’s unlikely that we are alone and there are no other intelligent forms of life in the Milky Way, but there’s also a 50 percent chance that we are indeed alone here…and I don’t know which one is worse

But being alone in the universe could only mean that Earth might face the risk of extinction in the future. Read on to discover why we haven’t found alien life yet!

  1. Perhaps it’s because our sci fi concept of aliens does not exist . Or perhaps they took a look at the human race and said ” Nah ! We don’t want to be dealing with these idiots “
