Can we see the Great Wall of China from space?
If you think that the Great Wall of China is the only human-built object visible from space, you’re not the only one. But this impressive structure built in ancient China can only be seen from low earth orbit, “under a specific set of weather and lighting conditions,” as explained by Scientific American. “In fact, it is very, very difficult to distinguish the Great Wall of China in astronaut photography, because the materials that were used in the wall are similar in color and texture to the materials of the land surrounding the wall — the dirt,” said NASA scientist Kamlesh Lulla back in 2005.
The idea that it is visible for the human eye from space and even from the Moon is just another space exploration myth. A nice one, but a myth, nonetheless.
