“The purpose of Area 51 remained a secret.”
Area 51, or “the site” as those who work there like to call it, is an Air Force Test Center and the most secret and secure experimental aircraft test site in the whole world. Located in the middle of nowhere, it came to life in 1955 exactly for that purpose, to test the Lockheed U-2 spy aircraft, nicknamed ‘Dragon Lady’.
In the following years, the A-12 was also created there and it served as a place for testing stolen Soviet aircraft. Since then, the F-117 and other aircraft were spotted flying in the area several times.
“No one knows what happens there.”
Most people associate Area 51 with aliens UFOs or UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena). So it’s not such a big secret now as it literally translates in experimental aircraft testing.
As for “no one really knows what happened there” I would like to add that 1500 people are working in the facility at the moment. The workers there even went on strike over the very hard long hours they had to spend there. Therefore, Area 51 is a military facility, where you can find a baseball field, a volleyball court, and a movie theater.
However, the Air Force likes to keep things secret and locked down, this facility being the most secure in the United States, and the whole world for that matter. Even the satellite images that show sensitive areas are blurred and controlled by the U.S. government and contractors who need to go to the facility are driven in vehicles with clocked-out windows or asked to wear frosted goggles.
