20 million doses will be available by the end of March.
The fact that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose is an important advantage compared to the other two vaccines, meaning that people will gain protection against COVID-19 sooner, in 28 days to be more precise.
At the same time, the company confirmed that they will speed up the rollout in order to allow more people to get vaccinated by the end of the month. According to former FDA Commissioner, Mark McClellan, MD, 4 million doses are expected to arrive in the United States in the first week of March, followed by 20 million doses by the end of the month, and one billion doses by the end of the year.
Therefore, 20 million people are expected to get vaccinated this month with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Another good news would be that Pfizer and Moderna will also increase their supply, offering 100 million doses of their two-dose vaccines in March, which means millions of other people in the United States will manage to get vaccinated by the end of the month, McClellan continued saying.
