The Delta variant is a newer strain of COVID-19 which originated in India and is currently causing concern as it is highly contagious. The good news is that the COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be highly effective at protecting against severe disease, as it seems that the vast majority of infections with this new variant occur in unvaccinated people.
Now, as we all know, vaccines aren’t 100% effective, so they can’t provide a fail-safe shield against COVID-19 and all of its new variants. This is why public health specialists emphasize that in order to stop the spread of the delta variant multiple strategies are required.
