If you’re living with the elderly, you need to wear a mask at home, too.
If you want to make sure your elderly family members are safe, you need to know that wearing a mask at home reduces the risk of infection by 80 percent. A study published in the journal BMJ Global Health examined more than 120 families (460 members) from Beijing, in order to find out how to avoid infections from happening in home settings. They have found that the most efficient method would be wearing a mask inside the home, as it can lower the risk of infection by 80 percent.

Do not forget about social distancing.
Even though you’re at home, you need to keep your distance from the family members that are more at risk. The same BMJ study discovered that families who spend a lot of time together and do certain activities, such as watching TV together, eating together, have 18 percent more chances to spread the virus within their households.
While you might enjoy spending time together or sharing food, you need to understand that being safe is more important. Therefore, be mindful and make sure to consider social distancing, in order to reduce the risk of infection and transmission in your household.
