Jupiter’s moon, Europa, is very special

As scientists would suspect, one of Jupiter’s moons, Europa, has an enormous ocean. The data gathered by NASA’s Galileo probe has shown that Europa could have three times the amount of Earth’s water beneath its icy surface.

Evidence has shown that Europa has a layered structure just like our own planet, consisting of a core with iron, a rocky layer, and a layer of ice. Additionally, as Francois Poulet from the Institute of Space Astrophysics at the University of Paris-Sud in France has explained, we could say that Europa’s surface is just like Antarctica’s sea ice.

And Europa is not the only Jupiter’s moon that has water, Callisto and Ganymede also have.
