Your hair and fingernails can still grow after death!

After death, your body usually needs some time before it can fully stop functioning. After the brain stops operating, the other organs usually follow, even though it might take a while until the body shuts down completely.

In this time, it has been found the hair and fingernails continue to grow. Or it appears to be so, but in fact, it’s just the skin around the nails and hair that begins to retract after death due to dehydration, making them look longer. The same thing happens with the hair on the men chest, it didn’t grow longer even if it might seem like it.

In reality, hair and fingernails cannot continue to grow after death, since there’s no oxygen left in the body, and therefore, not glucose, which is responsible for the growth of hair and nail.
