The coolest moon is two-toned.
If you didn’t know already, Saturn has 53 confirmed and named moons and 29 others that are still waiting to receive their confirmation as moons, before they’ll officially have a name. I guess we’re not so special now…with just one moon.
The cooler moon ever discovered is a 914-mile-wide hunk of rock, and the greatest part about it is that it’s two-toned: bright on one side and dark on the other. How awesome is that?
Each side is different, the bright one is 20 times more reflective than the dark one. And just because we’ve promised to offer incredible information in this article, you’ll be surprised to find out that the bright side of the moon is actually ice.
When it comes to the darker hemisphere, there are a lot of theories, none confirmed just yet. Some say that the darker side of the moon has gotten its color from the particles released by another moon called Phoebe.
A recent theory speculates that its color is caused by heat. Apparently, the moon is rotating very slowly, causing its dark material to become even darker after absorbing the heat. Which of the two theories seems more plausible to you?
